Scott advised those who attend the search to wear comfortable shoes, bring water and trash bags. “I do want Kada and her family to know that they are not by themselves,” Joe Massengale of Christian Stronghold Church said on Friday during a community prayer service at the senior living facility where the 23-year-old was last seen. Police were previously asking the public’s help in locating the suspect’s vehicle, a 1999 metallic-gold Toyota Camry with a Pennsylvania license plate of MSX-0797, which they believe Scott may have been in. Later that day, police confirmed to ABC News that King’s vehicle was found in an apartment lot.
Since then, her disappearance has gripped the city and inspired a growing community of support. Officials said they received two tips, the first led them to an elementary school where they recovered evidence “of value,” and the second that led them to the vehicle connected to Scott’s disappearance. “Mr. King is the last person we believe to be in contact with her when she went offline,” Ashley Kozlowski, the Philadelphia assistant district attorney, said during a press conference on Wednesday. Scott was reported missing to police on Oct. 5, with law enforcement saying they had “some concern, more so than usual,” regarding her disappearance due to worrying phone calls she was receiving. The discovery of Scott’s remains also came from a “very specific” tip that came in overnight Friday.

The size and depths woods, he said, had made earlier searches of the grounds challenging. The new tip, he said, “was very specific as to detailing us and directing us to a specific location in the wooded area” around the school. Last week, police tracked down a 1999 metallic gold Toyota Camry they believed could have been involved in the case. A tip lead police to the vehicle that was parked at an apartment complex in the East Falls section of Philadelphia. Officials say a tip led police to a burned 2008 black Hyundai Accent in the 2300 block 74th Avenue. Scott vanished the night of Saturday, Oct. 4, after leaving her workplace, an assisted living facility in Chestnut Hill.
“The tip was very specific that led us back to this location here,” said First Deputy Commissioner John Stanford, with the Philadelphia Police Department. “We want the people– the person we have in custody and anyone else who may be involved — we want them held accountable to the highest degree of the law for what they have done.” This comes just days after human remains were found behind a vacant school in Philadelphia’s Germantown.
He is also facing reinstated charges for a separate case from earlier this year that had been initially dropped when the witness did not appear in court. Then later Wednesday afternoon, police received another tip and responded to the Gypsy Lane Condominiums on the 4000 block of Gypsy Lane Wednesday afternoon. Police towed the vehicle and searched through it but didn’t find Scott. Police then announced King’s arrest during a press conference on Wednesday, Oct. 15. They then released surveillance photos of King’s vehicle, a gold 1999 Toyota Camry which they believe Scott was inside at one point. Later on Wednesday, police responded to the vacant Ada H. Lewis Middle School on the 6100 block of Ardleigh Street – which is located near the Awbury Arboretum – after receiving a tip.

Earlier Wednesday, police deployed drones, K9 units and crime scene teams to search an abandoned elementary school near the Awbury Arboretum in Germantown. Sources say they found physical evidence at the scene, including Scott’s card and a phone case. - Amy Clayton says her neighbor saw the Toyota in the parking lot and called police.
- On the evening of Oct. 4, Scott arrived at work, but left prior to her shift’s completion, Philadelphia police Capt. John Craig said during a press conference last week.

King was arrested in December 2024 and charged with burglary, strangulation, and related crimes after police said he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s Strawberry Mansion house and tried to choke her. But Krasner also complained that even though prosecutors had asked for $999,999 bail, the bail magistrate set it much lower, allowing King to post the necessary funds and be released. Assistant District Attorney Ashley Toczylowski said prosecutors would wait for additional information from the medical examiner’s office and the police before determining whether they would charge King with additional crimes.
Cell phone data also allegedly places King at the various locations connected to this case, including where the vehicle was burned as well as when the vehicle was seen near the rec center where the remains were found. The video was recorded earlier this year, about an hour before King allegedly kidnapped a woman, threw her in a car, assaulted her and then let her out of the vehicle. Assistant District Attorney Ashley Toczylowski told NBC10 that King’s 2-year-old child was in the backseat of the car during the incident. Police had previously searched the area of the school and the arboretum in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia, but only said they had found some physical evidence without specifying what the evidence was. Police and community members have been searching for Scott since she went missing on the night of Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025.
Keon King, 21, was previously charged with kidnapping “for his involvement” in the disappearance of Scott, authorities said. The remains found Saturday were located in a deeply wooded area behind Ada H. Lewis Middle School, an abandoned school near Awbury Arboretum in Germantown, an area that was central to a search earlier this week, police said on Saturday. “While conducting a search of the property, investigators discovered a shallow grave and recovered human remains believed to be those of Kada Scott,” police said in the statement.
Police are still working to determine how King and Scott knew each other, but they believe the pair came into contact in the days before the disappearance on October 4. Investigators said they were able to obtain surveillance video of the vehicle, leading them to believe that the Hyundai is the car used to move Scott to where her remains were ultimately found near Ada Lewis Middle School. “Ultimately when the complaining witness and eyewitness on that case stepped out of the property later that day is when the kidnapping occurred and he grabbed the victim, put her in the car, drove away and assaulted her,” she said. Prior to her disappearance, Scott had complained that someone had been harassing her through her phone, investigators said.
Kada’s family has started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to raise “awareness, support search efforts, and ensure that no lead goes unheard.” Investigators found King’s Toyota Camry later that day abandoned in a parking lot on Gypsy Lane in East Falls. Hours after authorities announced King’s arrest, a police search party flooded the Ada Lewis Middle School campus in East Mount Airy.
Officials said evidence shows Scott was “in communication with an individual” — they identified as King — and that she appeared to meet with him “very shortly after” she left work on Oct. 4. “I pray that God will give the family a certain peace that passes all understanding to meet this moment,” Parker said. “The City of Philadelphia is here to support them in any way that we can. We will continue to stay by their side.” Police said the medical examiner’s office will work to confirm the identity of the remains and to determine a cause of death. The identity of the remains will be confirmed by the medical examiner’s office.
